About Skip Jones

Skip’s Background
Skip began his life-long love of music in grade school with piano lessons. Eventually the piano was a casualty of a family move and formal piano lessons were never pursued again.

A Kingston Trio concert and a guitar for Christmas one year began a life-long involvement with that instrument and its music.

Trombone lessons began in the 6th grade and playing in the marching, concert, and dance bands in both high school and college were very much enjoyed.

Since college, Skip has played both solo and with jazz, blues, dance, and country western
bands.

Completing a piano technician program at the Baldwin grand piano plant in Conway, Arkansas, led to a very successful piano tuning / repairing / rebuilding business.

The capability of repairing, rebuilding, modifying, and restoring acoustic and electric guitars was soon added.

The capability of repairing, rebuilding, modifying, and restoring brass band instruments with a special interest in trombones was added to the shop some years later.

Skip loves teaching and passing his knowledge, experience, and love of music along to the
students he works with.

He especially enjoys working with beginning guitar and trombone students of all ages.

Skip holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree in Educational Leadership with a dual major in Adult
Education and Distance Learning, a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree in Aerospace Education (Curriculum and
Instruction with an aviation slant), and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aviation Management.

He also holds a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Earth / Space
Science 6-12 and Technology Education 6-12.
